Art by Oklahoma Abstract Contemporary Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

© "White Chocolate" sold
Here's another in the more abstract style with the thickened paint applied then moved around some. I was very pleased with the way this one turned out, so dynamic, so dramatic. I absolutely LOVE white chocolate but don't eat it anymore since it's really not at all good for the body and system, but I remember how it tastes, and it's creamy smoothness. I love milk chocolate too, but only eat dark chocolate now for it's healthy benefits. So with this painting it was more a feast for the eyes, not the lips. This is sold.

Original Acrylic Artwork by Oklahoma Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

"Live Again"

On January 30th, I lost my 28 year old niece unexpectedly. It hit my family and her parents very badly, and I as well. I live a distance away so my visits have been quite limited. Last time I saw her was at Christmas 2012. I cannot wrap my mind around that I will never see her again, get hugs, hear her laughter, see her beautiful eyes and rosy cheeks. I spent days in tearful grief, and as I've come to do, was moved to put my feelings on canvas. I had started this painting already but it soon morphed into the message I have for her- "Live Again". I know it can't come true physically, but her memory will never die. This is for you Jessica. Love you, Aunt Jonelle

Original Acrylic Artwork by Oklahoma Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

"Seduction"

Spring is just around the corner; I think of pastels, bright floral colors, , new growth, new beginnings. My stallions call to the mares, and even the mares cuddle and show affection when in heat. Part of the dance for mating is the wooing, and this painting shows just that. I viewed being approached by a suitor similarly, with attraction yet caution. I also used color symbolically, pink for the ladies, blues and yellows for the guys, orange is for optimism. Painted in acrylics on a 24"x24"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas. I've called it "Seduction", it will be entered in a competition so not currently available.

Original Acrylic Artwork by Oklahoma Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

"BeCome a Survivor"

October is breast cancer awareness month, and it just so happens I was commissioned to do a work for this very issue to signify a feeling of hope and determination to beat this medical condition. Titled "BeCome a Survivor" employing my typical use of words and letters to send a message, in this case the capital B and C in BeCome means Breast Cancer. Done with acrylics on an 8"x8"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas. There is a total of 8 ribbons on this painting, 2 are on the sides which are not seen by the camera. Eight is a # of fate, karma, adversity, and those with perseverance can overcome it's influence and succeed! I wish all the best and complete healing to the owner of this painting and anyone dealing with breast cancer.

"Seeking the Son" acrylic by Oklahoma Equine Artist Jonelle T. McCoy

"Seeking the Son"

Here's #4 in my horses and flowers series. This has so many messages given the title- "Seeking the Son". Taken literally in my view, I love the warm weather and longer days. I love the feeling of warmth from the sun on my face and skin. (I do wear sunscreen and try to shade my face for the most part to be safe.) Taken symbolically- the sunflower, a huge, bright, seed nourishing flower that resembles our sun not only in color and size celestially with it's light that transforms the earth into a living orb, but in size relative to other flower species. I also seek the light of the sun spiritually, so play on the spelling and you get Son, the Son of God. I pray for enlightenment, to understand myself and the world around me better, that the muddy colors of distress, confusion and despair clarify and become rich and saturated with peace and happiness. As you can see, the horse is rising upwards towards this ideal, the utopia, the bearer of light. What does this painting mean to you, what does it say to you- do you feel it's message in your soul? Painted with acrylic on a 20"x16"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas.
